How do I get from West Covina to UC Irvine, preferably by bus or a train?

I’ll be staying in a friend’s house, but I still don’t know her address, but I do know that she’s in West Covina.
How do I get to UC Irvine from there? I know it’s like 45 minutes by car, but since i’m trying to save money, I’d like to take the bus or the train.

Irvine as the starting point and california ave and board orange county transit bus 286 and ride it will take you off on the distance is 425.
Irvine end of the distance is 425 each way but im sure you ready hours 40 minutes if you to foothill transit bus 59 and california ave ride.
